1893
Roaring Brook subdivision/Resort touches Ramona Park subdivision. Roaring Brook was platted in 1893, and Ramona was platted in about 1905; so two separate subdivisions. In about 1940 as the result of an Emmet County Court case, however, the cottage owners on the Bluff made themselves a new Roaring Brook Association of which those below the bluff, and on the beach, are NOT a part.
Then the 1905 Plat of Ramona was further subdivided in about 1980, when the Ramona Hotel (then called the Harbour Inn) was torn down. The plat named their 35-38 new Condo lots as Plat of Ramona .
Roaring Brook also is separate from Wequetonsing. Roaring Brook begins just east of where Beach Drive turns north one cottage, to become Pennsylvania Street; named after the Pennsylvania Railroad. The east end of Roaring Brook beach and bluff is Walt Fisher beach property and Adams/Bissell cottage on the Bluff (the only cottage just east of the footbridge over Bridge Street). The west end of Roaring Brook is where Beach Drive turns up (one cottage wide) to join Pennsylvania Avenue/Beach Road, and on the Bluff just west of one of the cottages is where the private bluff road turns north into M-119.
Wequetonsing in legal terms is only the 1880s plat of Wequetonsing, including 1st-5th Avenues. Possibly, Wequetonsing north of the Pennsylvania Railroad and about 6 cottages along M-119 are also in the Plat of Wequetonsing.
About 1970 or 1980, others concerned about outsiders buying into the existing cottages began a Wequetonsing Landowners Association; a voluntary association that many/most landowners between Zoll Street in Harbor Springs and the old Ramona Park Hotel, possibly OMITTING 1-5th Avenues in the Wequetonsing Plat. About six families did NOT join the Wequetonsing Landowners Association which included one rule that any land transfer "out of the current family" had first to be offered to the Wequetonsing Landowners Association, so any possible buyer could be vetted, thereby limiting the membership.

Roaring Brook News Below: "Passengers on the ferries thought that a regular old time Indian pow-wow was on tap at Roaring Brook beach Saturday night. But 'twas only another of those big bonfires and informal good times that come along semi-occasionally in that locality."
Below: In November 2000 Roaring Brook resident Win Stebbins submitted a few pages to the Harbor Light of some journals written by family members in 1905. Win's Uncle Stowell Stebbins, 19 at the time in 1905, wrote the following in his journal from the Stebbins cottage in Roaring Brook; painting a picture of what "resort life" was like at the turn of the century. AND right next below is a journal continuation as posted in the 13-19 December 2000 Harbor Light.

Roaring Brook News Below: Various news items and notice that "Several breakwaters are being built along the shores of the bay in hopes that some day a hard sand beach may be formed. Where this has been tried the result has been satisfactory and soon private bathing beaches will add to the manifold enjoyments of the shore resorters."
1909
Roaring Brook News Below: "There is some talk at present among the young men at Roaring Brook of organizing a bowling team, those interested in the scheme being Craig Pattengill and the Stebbins brothers. They would like to hear from other resort teams who desire matches."
