Advance is an unincorporated community in Eveline Township, Charlevoix County, Michigan.
Advance is located near the shore of Lake Charlevoix.

Trout Pond Developed by 125 Foot Dirt Dam
The old grist mill was constructed in 1892 to replace one built in 1868 by Harvey Porter, a pioneer.
It was used as a grist mill and sawmill, and was the FIRST grist mill north of Elk Rapids.
It was last used in 1922.

~ Advance Historic Old Mill to be Burned ~

This Michigan landmark, rested at the mouth of Porter Creek; where thousands dipped smelt each Spring. The mill was built in 1865, and purchased by Mr. and Mrs. James D. Woodruff of Pontiac in 1953. Farmers once drove many miles to have their grain milled there. Flour was marketed from the mill under the name of "Lone Pine." The mill quit grinding in 1922.
