A transcription of a short article that accompanied this 1966 photo: "Part of Petoskey's 'motel district' is shown in this aerial taken from almost over Lincoln School and Kilwin’s Bakery [Johan’s in 2020]. The Kroger Store [area of Big Boy in 2020] is at the extreme left and Curtis Wire Products is at the top right [Fletch’s in 2020].
In between may be seen three swimming pools, much of the motel area with Hayner’ units in the right center, Holiday House may be seen a block off US-131 which runs across the photo (north and south) and US-31 and Charlevoix-ave, which criss-crosses the photo from corner to corner and runs east and west, other restaurants in the photo include the Big Boy, Wimpy’s, Candlelight.
There are plenty of autos in this photo, but no big pileup of trucks which happened this busy Spring."
